We spent more than a couple days working on the Vertebrae of Bubbles, our T. rex. The one on the right is the correct size, the one on the left is more of the size for a large sauropod.
Our T. rex was modeled after Sue, the largest and most complete T. rex ever found. This skull alone was about six feet long
We spent a full day just assembling the nearly two hundred bones that made up this skeleton. Each bone was measured as it was built and we tried to have it accurate within about a half an inch.
Bubbles, our T. rex, stood over eighteen feet tall. It made it impressive to look at, but hard to make adjustments.
In all our T. rex used over two thousand and three hundred balloons.
Bubbles took six days to build, most of that was due to the time consuming process of adding Hi Float to each balloon to help it last longer
Bubbles was forty five feet long, slightly longer than Sue the T. rex she was modeled after. It was displayed for a week before it was taken down and destroyed by some very happy kids in about 5 minutes.
Bubbles was built by a team of seven balloon twisters and a student of paleontology. Helping twist were Jeremy and Kristin Telford, Heather Lewis (Jensen), Travis and Paco Hadley, Brendan Rowlands, and Justin James. Andrew Stanton was our T. rex expert.
