It is safer to put in a little at a time. Make sure you wear gloves when handling the dry ice, it will burn you if you pick it up without any kind of protection. Are you planning to do make a hollow white chocolate volcano? Sound cool in any case. The only thing I would be worried about is the fact that the jello in the cup is going to be warm, very warm, boiling warm in fact.
